Martina Authorlee and Sandra Gabbert

Martina Theresa Authorlee (March 21, 1965 – May 22, 1983) was a young woman who was murdered by Gary Ridgway in SeaTac or Enumclaw, Washington, on May 22, 1983. She was Ridgway’s twenty-seventh known murder victim.

Background

Martina was born on March 21, 1965, in Fürth, Germany, as her father was stationed there in the U.S. Army. She is believed to have lived in numerous foster homes for an unknown reason. They lived there until 1968, when they moved and settled in Washington, near Tacoma.

Martina attended High School in Washington and joined the National Guard but was discharged for medical reasons. Martina’s interests included roller skating, basketball, baseball, and swimming. She reportedly became involved in sex work when she was fifteen.

Disappearance

Martina was last seen in SeaTac, Washington, on May 22, 1983, along Pacific Highway South. It’s unknown what happened to her afterward.

Discovery

Martina’s remains were discovered off Highway 410, near Enumclaw, Washington, on November 14, 1984. Her cause of death couldn’t be determined, but her case was deemed a homicide.

Aftermath

Martina was reported missing by her mother on January 30, 1984. In April 1984, her disappearance was added to the list of suspected victims of the Green River Killer. When Martina’s remains were recovered, she was added to the list of confirmed victims.

It wouldn’t be until 2001 that her killer, Gary Ridgway, would be apprehended. He was convicted of Martina’s murder, along with the murders of forty-eight other women..

Sandra Gabbert

Sandra Kay Gabbert (March 7, 1966 – April 17, 1983) was a teenager who was murdered by Gary Ridgway in SeaTac or Auburn, Washington, on April 17, 1983. She was Ridgway’s twenty-third known murder victim.Background
Sandra was born on March 7, 1966, in Seattle, Washington. Her parents divorced when she was young. In her teenage years, she was the star of her high school basketball team but dropped out soon after. She is known to have become involved in sex work to make ends meet. She had a close relationship with her mother.

Disappearance
Sandra was last seen in SeaTac, Washington, on April 17, 1983, along Pacific Highway South. It’s unknown what happened to her afterward.

Discovery
Sandra’s remains were discovered in Auburn, Washington, near Star Lake Road, on April 1, 1984. Her cause of death couldn’t be determined, though her case was deemed a homicide.

Sandra’s remains were found at around the same time as three other sets of remains, identified as belonging to Alma Smith, Delores Williams and Terri Milligan.

Aftermath
Sandra was added to the list of suspected victims of the Green River Killer in November 1983, though her remains hadn’t been recovered.

It wouldn’t be until 2001 that her killer, Gary Ridgway, would be apprehended. He was convicted of Sandra’s murder, along with the murders of forty-eight other women.
